The Best Months to Get Married in North Carolina

A regional breakdown of weather, crowds, and pricing so you can pick a date that works with the landscape, not against it.

Choosing a wedding date in North Carolina is really three different decisions — one for each region. The Blue Ridge peaks in October, the Piedmont peaks in late April, and the coast splits between May and the back half of September.

October is the most-requested month for mountain weddings, with foliage hitting peak between the second and third weekends of the month at most elevations above 3,000 feet. Expect to book eighteen to twenty-four months in advance for top venues.

The Piedmont's April-May window pairs mild temperatures with the dogwood bloom. The trade-off is pollen — bring antihistamines and consider an indoor ceremony backup.

Coastal weddings are best in early May (after pollen drops, before the heat) or late September (after hurricane season's first peak, before it cools). Avoid mid-July through Labor Day for both heat and beach-crowd logistics.
